The Car

Our tow car is the last I would have thought would have suited me, it is a SsangYong from Korea.

My last tow vehicle was a Landrover Freelander, great looks, impeccable pedigree, total unreliability. What added insult to injury was that every time it broke down I was told by the garage “ . . . Oh yes! This is a known problem, there is a redesigned part for that we will fit . . . “

Eventually I got fed up with spending so much time waiting for the RAC/garage repair and decided to get something else. After research I decided on a KIA Sorento and started an internet search for a good example. A few weeks later we somehow finished up with a SsangYong Rodius. Not everyones cup of tea and reckoned to be the ugliest car ever built but one year on it has yet to let us down and tows the van as if it was not there.

The Van

The caravan is a Bailey “AluTech” Pegasus 554, bought at the Birmingham NEC Caravan Show in October 2009. It was quite a leap of faith to buy a totally untried van but we have had a Bailey before and so far (despite all the doom and gloom on some caravan forums) we have no reason to regret our choice.
